Abstract
In the face of escalating environmental challenges and ethical concerns surrounding beef production, this study conducts a comprehensive examination of the industry's true external costs. Utilizing a full-cost accounting framework, the research scrutinizes the environmental, health, and animal welfare impacts associated with beef production in comparison to plant-based alternatives, particularly the Beyond Burger. Key factors analyzed include water and energy consumption, greenhouse gas emissions, land use, health and nutritional impacts, and animal welfare practices. Through a comparative analysis, this study aims to provide insights into the sustainability and ethical considerations of dietary choices, shedding light on the broader implications for food systems and environmental stewardship.
